2014 RESULTS HERE

Neil Shapiro was born and raised in Winthrop; he was a friend and mentor to many. He had a true love for his community of Winthrop.  He was a long time, dedicated Dramatic Arts Teacher and Director (as well as an assistant girls Basketball Coach) at Winthrop High and Middle schools, where he touched the lives of many students.  He passed at the young age of 48 from a rare blood disease called Myelofibrosis.

To celebrate his life, former students, friends and family plan an annual 5K race at Deer Island in Winthrop in his honor.

All funds raised through the Neil Shapiro Memorial 5K will benefit Winthrop High School Drama Society (via our partner, the Viking Pride Foundation).

Please join us to fundraise for the Winthrop High School Drama Society and to remember our teacher, mentor and friend - Neil Shapiro.
