Can't Hurt Steel Community Foundation

From the Organizer

Can't Hurt Steel 5K is going virtual for 2020!

Running is a great way that we can all stay physically and mentally healthy through these difficult times.  Due to social distancing guidelines, the Can’t Hurt Steel 5k is virtual this year.

YOUR COURSE - YOUR START TIME - YOUR RACE DATE

What is a virtual race?  Keep running and walking on your own schedule.  Registered runners/walkers will be provided with an online time submission link.  Any day from May 30th - June 15th you can run your race, and then record and submit your time.  Results will be scored and award certificates will be emailed out to all participants.

Runners/walkers are also encouraged to submit a "Race Finish" celebration selfie, and either in the picture, or in the comments, we would also like to hear your POSITIVE AFFIRMATION.  A quote, a saying, a meme...

"Strive to set a standard of excellence every day that inspires others around you to be better."

Your photo & Positive Affirmation will be shared to the event facebook page.  Please take a moment to like and share our page to help us promote the event and raise funds for our 2020 fitness trail project.

The Can't Hurt Steel Community Foundation was created in 2016 by JJ Hanson and his wife Kristen, to enhance the quality of life for those living in our community. The foundation offers financial assistance to families experiencing a catastrophic loss or illness, provides health and wellness programming, as well as promotes community development.

Thanks to all of our generous sponsors and donors over the last 4 years, we’ve been able to provide financial support to over 30 local families experiencing catastrophic illnesses and loss and we’ve been able to give back over $50,000 to supporting our community.  Through the JJ Hanson Memorial scholarship we’ve given nearly $10,000 to graduating Eldred seniors, we’ve offered free fitness programs to community members, we’ve donated pedometers and yoga mats to the Mackenzie elementary school to support their wellness programs, and we’re working with the DEC to create a fitness trail at the Hickock Brook Multiple Use area in the town of Highland.

We hope you can join us! Run, walk, or sponsor us in 2020.
