    About us:

Team CMMD started as a few people hoping to raise a few dollars for the American Cancer Society. They were virtual strangers whose only acquaintance was through Dr. Christine Meyer’s facebook page. Most of them didn't even consider themselves runners, some had never run before. However,  one common thread was a cancer story and a desire to complete Philadelphia’s ten mile Broad Street Run.

In the first season, CMMD grew to 47 runners who raised $65,000 for the American Cancer Society. Friendships were formed, goals were accomplished, they made a difference. In the revelry of her post-race high, team captain, Christine Meyer, MD, proclaimed her goal for Team CMMD 2014: 100 runners, $100,000.

January 1, 2014 started their second season. A few weeks later, Christine expected a handful of people at the kickoff meeting. 65 showed up. In the four months leading up to the second Broad Street race, even more friendships were born and solidified. Strangers at the beginning, they shared victories and heartbreaks. They encouraged and supported each other through hard times. They ran through ice, snow and extremely low temperatures of the winter, and learned that when we combine our desire to help with our individual skills, we can make a bigger difference than we ever thought possible. Even the lofty goal of $100,000 was blown out of the water. In just four months, they raised more than $174,000.

Part of Team CMMD contributions will continue to go to the American Cancer Society (in five seasons, CMMD has donated more than $1,000,000), but they wanted to make a difference in the community in which they live. In 2014, the Team CMMD Foundation was created to raise money for local families with a cancer story. Through various fundraising and racing events, Team CMMD has raised funds to help local cancer patients and their families with financial obligations as they face treatment. $15,000 is given monthly to local families and 5 $20,000 scholarships have been presented to students whose families have been affected by cancer.

Has Team CMMD made an impact on the community?  You decide...

    • $1,000,000 Donated to the American Cancer Society.
    • $400,000 Donated to Local Cancer Patients.
    • 12,000+ Pounds of food donated to Lord’s Pantry of Downingtown.
    • Five (05) $20,000 awarded to a local students affected by cancer.
