FALLEN HEROES 5K RUN & 1 MILE WALK
As a tribute to all our Veterans, the St. Peter Knights of Columbus presents the 4th Annual Fallen Heroes 5K Run and 1 Mile Family Walk. Proceeds from this event will go to the Wounded Warrior Project. This event has been approved by the Wounded Warrior Project and is listed on its website as a “Proud Supporter Event”.
If you are not familiar with the Wounded Warrior Project, I invite you to visit their website. Their mission is “To Honor and Empower Wounded Warriors”. After reviewing the website, I know that you will agree this is an organization with a noble mission and that our Wounded Veterans are worthy of our support.
WHO: Runners of all ages are invited to participate in the 5K run. Walkers are also invited to participate in a 1 mile non-competitive walk.
WHEN: Saturday May 21st, 2016
8:15 to 9:15 a.m. - Registration and Packet Pickup
9:30 a.m. - 5K Run
9:35 a.m. - 1 Mile Walk
10:30 a.m. - Race Awards Ceremony
WHERE: Hibernia Park in Chester County, PA. The course will begin near Pavilion 5 and utilize various open areas and trails in the park. *Please Note: A portion of the running course uses trails which are neither stroller nor handicap accessible. The 1 Mile Family Walk will use a shorter course on mostly flat areas and some grassy trails.
AWARDS: Trophies will be awarded to the Overall Male and Female Winners. Medals will be presented to the top 3 Male and Female finishers in each of the following age brackets: 19 and Under, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60+ years.Trophies will be also be awarded to the top Veteran Male and Veteran Female Winners.
DIRECTIONS: Go to http://www.chesco.org/index.aspx?NID=1743 for directions to the park. Enter Hibernia Park through the main entrance on Cedar Knoll Road. Check-in will be located at Pavilion 5.
Online Registration is available at http://www.racemenu.com/heroes. The event will be capped at 500 Runners and Walkers, so be sure to register early.
For those who register;
Children 15 & under are free, but will not receive a race t-shirt or pint glass.
In conjunction with the race, we will also be holding a "Socks and Undergarments" drive for the Coatesville Veterans Medical Center to help support our local Veteran Community.
